CNOR Specialty Designations

Specialty designations recognize the exceptional expertise and dedication of CNOR-certified nurses in a variety of settings.

A CNOR-certified nurse may hold up to two specialty designations.

CNOR-PEDS Designation

CNOR-PEDS Designation

This specialty designation recognizes the exceptional expertise and dedication of CNOR-certified nurses in pediatric surgical settings, showcasing specialized knowledge and experience in pediatric surgery.

 

Requirements for this designation include:
  • Hold a current and valid CNOR.
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Meet one of the following conditions:
    • Practiced 2000 hours within the specialty over the last 5 years; OR
    • Practiced 1000 hours within the specialty over the last 5 years AND completed 50 contact hours within the specialty.
  • Payment of the $150 application fee and submission of application.

ORTHO Designation - Image

CNOR-ORTHO Designation

This specialty designation celebrates the outstanding expertise and dedication of CNOR-certified nurses within Orthopedic surgical environments, demonstrating their specialized knowledge and experience in this field.
Requirements for this designation include:
  • Hold a current and valid CNOR.
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Meet one of the following conditions:
    • Practiced 2000 hours within the specialty over the last 5 years; OR
    • Practiced 1000 hours within the specialty over the last 5 years AND completed 50 contact hours within the specialty.
  • Payment of the $150 application fee and submission of application.

SURG-OB Designation - Image

This special designation demonstrates the remarkable expertise and commitment of CNOR-certified nurses in Obstetrics and Gynecology surgical settings, showcasing their specialized knowledge and experience in this area.

 

Requirements for this designation include:
  • Hold a current and valid CNOR.
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Meet one of the following conditions:
    • Practiced 2000 hours within the specialty over the last 5 years; OR
    • Practiced 1000 hours within the specialty over the last 5 years AND completed 50 contact hours within the specialty.
  • Payment of the $150 application fee and submission of application.
