Dr. Josh Wymer is a Clinical Associate Professor across advanced informatics and executive leadership tracks with the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science at the University of San Diego. He is also a Co-Founder and Partner for MedicalMatch Corporation and the Founding Chief Clinical Officer for Shifthive, Inc. Both companies are early stage startups focused on the healthcare workforce management space. Dr. Wymer’s previous roles include serving as Chief Health Information Officer for the Defense Health Agency’s San Diego Market, a comprehensive health system serving 367,000 beneficiaries, and Chief Nursing Informatics Office with Naval Medical Center San Diego and Regional Health Clinics. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and holds credentials in perioperative nursing (CNOR), nursing informatics (RN-BC), and as a nurse executive (NEA-BC), digital health executive (CDH-E), and healthcare chief information officer (CHCIO). As a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), Dr. Wymer is a recognized advocate for human-centered design, digital health transformation, and interprofessional teams. Josh’s undergraduate degree in nursing is from Seattle University. He completed an M.S. in Nursing, Health Care Informatics, at the University of San Diego, an M.S. in Project Management from Granite State College, and an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies, Enterprise Strategic Planning, from the U.S. Naval War College. His doctoral work at Hopkins explored nursing specialty certification in the context of the patient care environment. Josh recently completed service on the Editorial Board for Healthcare Executive magazine and currently sits on the Association for Executives in Healthcare Applications, Data and Analytics Advisory Board and the HIMSS Analytics North America Advisory Panel.
