TrueNorth Award 2017

2017 TrueNorth Award Winner:
Stamford Hospital

Stamford Hospital has been named the winner of the 2017 TrueNorth Award. Presented by Competency & Credentialing Institute, the TrueNorth Award honors perioperative nursing facilities whose "true north" guides the nursing staff to be lifelong learners and models of continuous outstanding patient care.

Stamford Hospital was selected as the winner after being carefully considered along many other competitive facilities. The application process considers certification rates, the programs and efforts in place to recognize the CNOR-certified nurse, as well as the impact certified nurses have on the perioperative community and patient care and safety. Stamford Hospital acknowledges certified nurses through pay increases, publicly posted plaques, facility-wide newsletter announcements, reimbursement for testing costs, and hosting certification ceremonies.

In addition to recognizing efforts once a nurse becomes CNOR-certified, Stamford supports nurses through the entire process of becoming certified. This includes a CNOR Coach available to all staff, free on-site CNOR prep courses conducted annually, a lending library, and programs that offer free contact hours which may be used towards recertification.
