CNOR Item Writer Committee
Committee members meet for two days after independent premeeting work to write exam questions. Item writers are responsible for constructing questions specific to each section of the test specifications. The testing agency furnishes each writer with appropriate reference materials and instructions on how to write multiple-choice questions. You must be CNOR or CRNFA certified (depending on committee) and currently in active practice. CRNFA members must have a minimum of a BSN. COMMITTEE MEMBERS MUST HAVE ACCESS TO CURRENT PERIOPERATIVE TEXT BOOKS and REFERENCES.

You must be CNOR certified, and currently practicing in perioperative nursing. This committee does not require a face to face meeting. CCI will provide textbooks and pay an honorarium.

Such matters as correctness of answers, prevention of geographic bias, language clarity, and appropriateness of items are considered during item selection. You must be CNOR or CRNFA certified (depending on committee) and currently in active practice. CRNFA members must have a minimum of a BSN.
The Item Review Committee reviews all usable questions and chooses items from each examination form by using the test specifications. Such matters as correctness of answers, prevention of geographic bias, language clarity, and appropriateness of items are considered during item selection.

CNOR Job Analysis Committee
Committee members meet for two days and are responsible for reviewing the overall functions and responsibilities as well as the underlying knowledge and skills that are essential to ensure proficiency as an operating room nurse. The committee helps develop a survey questionnaire to validate the job analysis.
CNOR Job-Analysis Telephone Interview Task Force
Members of this task force don't need to meet face to face. Prometric, our testing agency, contacts each participant for a half-hour phone interview to review task and knowledge/skill statements that are important to the work of an operating room nurse.
CNOR Survey Pilot Test Task Force
Members of this task force don't need to meet face to face. The purpose of the pilot test is to have CNORs with no previous involvement in developing the job analysis survey review it and offer suggestions for its improvement.
CNOR Test Specifications Committee
Committee members meet for two days to develop the CNOR test plan based on the job analysis results. Committee members review the conceptual framework developed through the survey and identify the tasks and knowledge/skill statements that are important for inclusion on the CNOR exam.
