CCI strives to provide products that help certificants gain more knowledge and advance their careers. In early 2008, we’ll launch our latest product, the “Bariatric Competency Module.”

This new module is based on the latest information available and will provide valuable information for certificants.  Our goal is to enable healthcare professionals to better deliver extraordinary patient care and to improve patient safety in the workplace.

The module will cost $50. All CNORs and CRNFAs will receive an e-blast with instructions for ordering the module when it’s available. Stay tuned!

Professional Development Opportunity – CCI’s Certificate Program

You only have a few weeks left in 2007 to make those long-forgotten resolutions reality. If one of your resolutions was to advance your career and expand your knowledge, CCI can help. Our new Certificate Program for Surgical Services Management is an ideal solution to checking this resolution off your list and preparing for the challenges (and opportunities) that await you in 2008.

The certificate program is designed for anyone in a management role and other professionals who aspire to it. The program is self-paced and can be customized to meet your individual needs. When you purchase the program, you’ll complete a diagnostic review of the information in the program. The report will help you hone in on the areas where you need to study most.

If you haven’t already considered this program as an addition to your professional library, the time to do it is now. Click here to learn more.

CCI Announces 2007 Election Results

CCI is happy to announce the election of Pamela D. Fuhrman Gorgone, BSN, RN, CNOR for the Director position and Drew Sones to the position of Public Member.  The new board members will begin a three-year term following AORN Congress in 2008.  They will replace Eric Murdock and Connie Moser, respectively, whose terms expire in 2008.  Both departing directors have made countless contributions to CCI and its certificants.

Pamela Gorgone currently serves as a Perioperative Staff Nurse Level III in the Main Operating Room at Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA.  Her experience also includes clinician, preceptor, Magnet Champion, membership on the Perioperative Peer Review Committee and Evidenced Based Practice Committee and the hospital wide Professional Advancement Committee. Last year she completed a two-year term as Co-Chair of the Children’s Hospital Staff Nurse Council. She’s been a practicing perioperative nurse for 22 years and has been certified for 17 years.  Drew Sones is self employed as a solid waste consulting assisting business and public institutions in reducing their waste through recycling.

Drew Sones is self employed as a solid waste consultant assisting business and public institutions in reducing their waste through recycling. He has gained experience as a volunteer leader in multiple roles.  He served as a board member for a large regional hospital that places a high priority on patient safety and quality care as well as the Municipal Waste Management Association, a national organization. His role as Board representative to the hospital’s Credentialing Committee has also given him insight into the seriousness of proper credentialing to insure quality care and patient safety. Most recently, Sones was appointed to the Board Quality Committee.

Thank you for voting in the 2007 election.
