Advancing our Practice
CCI is launching two new programs to promote development and best practices in the nursing profession.
As an organization, CCI believes its role is not only to administer a quality certification program for OR nurses but also to advance the industry through events that bring together the best minds in the business and programs that promote professional development.
CCI will launch two new programs this year that support this position and further our strategic goals and overall commitment to promote a personal commitment to extraordinary care.
2007 Think Tank— Continued Competency Leadership Forum: From Pieces to Policy
CCI’s Think Tank events reflect the belief that great thinking drives achievement of a shared vision. To achieve this, we convene leading scholars and experts on topics of importance to competency assessment and patient safety.
In 2007, a group of leading experts will convene to discuss the elements of effective continued competency methods. This event is designed to achieve a single, significant outcome: to reach a shared understanding of how nursing can ensure ongoing competency development that enhances both the profession and patient care.
CCI Think Tank participants are part of a select group committed to bringing to life a vision of competency development in healthcare, while advancing patient safety and the quality of patient care. These learning laboratories incorporate large and small group sessions, audience response technology, panel discussions, experiential learning, review activities, and open-space facilitation with graphic recording to maximize the output from participants. The event is captured in real time and recorded for future use.

Certificate Program for Surgical Services Management
Certificate Program for Surgical Services Management
CCI’s Certificate Program for Surgical Services Management is designed for anyone currently working in a management role or people who aspire to it. Drawing on the experience of six veteran managers and a wealth of information received during a national survey of nurse managers, CCI developed the self-paced program as an avenue for professional development. Employers benefit too by using the program as a tool to promote qualified staff from within.
Candidates can customize the program after completing an online diagnostic tool highlighting areas where they need more work. Not only can they customize the content, they can also customize the timeline. The program is self-paced and candidates have up to one year after purchase to complete the six modules of study including:
- Professionalism
- Leadership
- Communication and Relationship Management
- Financial Management
- Surgical Services
- Human Resource Management
After passing the post assessment, you receive your Certificate of Mastery indicating you have completed the program. This is not a certification program like the CNOR or CRNFA. The certificate program focuses on training and education in a specific area. Detailed information about the program is available online.
- The 2007 recertification deadline for CNORs and CRNFAs is July 2. Please note that all materials must be postmarked by July 2. Click the following links for more information: CNOR Recertification or CRNFA Recertification.
Register for the CNOR exam at the AORN World Conference in Seoul, South Korea on September 29th. The application deadline is Aug. 17th. Click here to apply online.
- CCI has extended the time available to access the e-practice exams after purchase from 24 to 72 hours. E-practice exams are designed to give potential candidates a sense of how actual exam questions are structured. They highlight a candidate’s strengths and weaknesses in the subject matter, making it easier to plan and prepare for the certification examination. Click here to order your e-practice exam today.
