CNOR/CRNFA Monthly Update - February, 2007

You’re Invited…to attend the Certification Oasis at the 54th AORN Congress in Orlando, FL, March 11 – 15. The Oasis Lounge will be open during the following days and hours: Sunday, March 11 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Monday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 14 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In the Certification Oasis, CCI Board of Directors and staff members will be available to answer any of your questions on the following important CCI developments:

  • CCI Certificate Program for Surgical Services Managers – the authors of the program’s six modules are working on completing the draft content and CCI is busy finalizing the online platform. CCI committee participation and volunteer leadership positions.
  • CCI’s feature publications - competency modules, study guides, and other resources will be available for purchase at the AORN Congress Bookstore. 

Calling for Nominations for the ABNS Nursing Certification Advocacy Award

The ABNS Award for Nursing Certification Advocacy has been developed as a means to publicly recognize organizations, facilities or departments that advocate for or promote specialty nursing certification. The award is given annually to a facility or department who best demonstrates support for specialty nursing certification. A member of the ABNS Board of Directors will present the award in person at an event selected by the recipient.

The deadline for the application is February 27th. To access the application, visit the ABNS Web site at www.nursingcertification.org. Click on the “Award” tab on the left hand side of the screen, and from there select “Advocacy Award.” The application is available from that link.

February 28 – Registration applications for the Paper & Pencil Exam at the AORN World Conference in Seoul, Korea, will be available online. AORN and CCI are partnering to offer a package that includes the CNOR Exam Fee and AORN online preparation course for one low price of $300, a discount of nearly 20% over the standard prices. A specific registration form is being developed and will be available on this Web site by the end of February. E-mail info@cc-institute.org to request an application or visit www.cc-institute.org after Feb. 28 to access it online.
