CRNFA Monthly
May 2006

Since your initial certification, CCI has aspired to support you, the certificant, and our growing community of perioperative nurses. In the coming months, CCI will introduce new tools and resources to help you grow in your professional and leadership roles and stay up-to-date with the latest information.

One of these resources is the CRNFA Monthly, an electronic update that includes reminders on important deadlines (such as the upcoming recertification deadline), industry and research news, announcements from CCI, and other information you need to know.

We understand that you receive many messages in your inbox. However, we encourage you to take a few moments to read this new publication when you receive it at the end of each month and pass it along to your colleagues.

If you have any questions, suggestions or other feedback, please contact CCI at (888) 257-2667 or email info@cc-institute.org.

New Pharmacology Reference Guide and Pocket Resource Now Available
CCI recently launched a new reference guide focused on pharmacology. The product line contains two components. First, a reference book that outlines common medications administered in the surgical setting delineated by drug class. Each listing includes the indications, dosing, administration guidelines, contraindications and side effects or adverse reactions of the drug. It also features a glossary, review questions and case studies to reinforce learning.

The second piece is a pharmacology pocket guide designed for nurses to consult daily for a quick reference of all the information presented in the book.

The reference book is available for $30 and the pocket guide is available for $20. Save $5 by ordering both for $45. Click here to order today.

Resources
This year, CCI is introducing two new tools ready for use in your hospital/institution to help promote your credential and the value of certification.

First is the marketing your credential brochure, designed to offer tips on how to promote your certification status to your employer, peers, other healthcare providers, and patients. Promoting your certification can be as simple as introducing yourself as a certified perioperative nurse or sending a blurb that announces your achievement to a hospital newsletter. These are all important steps that celebrate your achievement and strengthen the network of certified nurses.

Download the PDF of the "marketing your credential" brochure and start promoting your achievement today. Stay tuned for details on other resources in next month's update.

Did you know?
CCI's online tools include a database to verify nurses' credentials.  Because CNOR and CRNFA designations are a matter of public record we provide easy access for hospitals to verify these credentials. The only information that will be provided is the name, city, state and certification status. The information can be printed for employee records or professional portfolios.

Click here to review the verification site and pass it along to your employer for future use. You can also use this site to find out when your current credential expires and begin planning for your recertification.

To ensure this message reaches your inbox, and does not immediately pass to a "JUNK EMAIL" folder, add CCI to the list of companies/organizations from which you will accept email.
