CNOR/CRNFA E-Practice Tests
CCI’s e-practice tests make it easier for candidates to prepare for the exam by giving them a sense of the actual questions and a report on their strengths and weaknesses. While some of the practice questions have appeared on previous examinations and others were written specifically for the e-practice tests, all of them conform to the specifications of the actual CNOR and CRNFA exams in terms of content and average difficulty level.
Once you purchase the practice exam you can choose one of two modes: exam or study. In the exam mode, you’ll receive the number of questions you answered right and correct answers for incorrect responses after you complete the test. The study mode provides immediate feedback after each item is completed. You can access the e-practice test of your choice for 72 continuous hours once you purchase it.

ABNS and the Nursing Community
Do you know what the ABNS is and how it helps serve the nursing community?
The American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) is a non-profit organization created in 1991 to promote the value of specialty nursing certification to its various stakeholders. Their ultimate vision is for “specialty nursing certification is the standard by which the public recognizes quality nursing care.” Our certificants should be familiar with ABNS (if you’re not already) because CCI has been an active member of this important organization and we also hold their accreditation.
ABNS has two arms—a membership assembly and accrediting body. The Accreditation Council accredits nursing programs that demonstrate compliance with ABNS standards for a period of five years. Many nursing certification organizations are members of or accredited by the ABNS including CCI, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (CCNA), and Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation (ONCC)—to mention only a few. A full list of accredited exams is available online at http://nursingcertification.org/exam_programs.htm
Another important function of the ABNS is its Research Committee, which actively pursues projects that further the specialty nursing community. Again, CCI is an active member of this committee.
For more information about ABNS or the process that CCI went through to achieve accreditation visit them online at www.nursingcertification.org.
CCI to Publish Perioperative Textbook
CCI is happy to announce that we’ll be partnering with Mark Phippen, Brenda Ulmer, and Maryann Papanier Wells to publish a new edition of their popular Perioperative Textbook. Like the previous edition, this new one is designed for all nurses who care for patients undergoing operative and invasive procedures. It will be expanded to cover more procedures done in radiology and the cardiac catheterization laboratory as well as provide in-depth information concerning minimally invasive procedures done in the surgical suite.
Perioperative nurses should view this book as an essential tool in setting and sustaining the highest standards of surgical patient care. This book provides a model of practice for nurses caring for patients before, during, and after operative and invasive procedures.
The textbook is on schedule for production in 2008. Stay tuned for more details.
