New for 2008 - CCI Launches Professional Portfolio
CCI launched a new optional, alternate method for CNOR recertification and reactivation on Jan. 1. Candidates for CNOR recertification and former CNOR-certified nurses who want to regain their credential may submit a professional portfolio to provide the evidence necessary to maintain or reactivate their credential.
Please review these important points about the new portfolio process.
- The portfolio is an optional method for recertification.
- It will be offered in addition to the existing continuing education and re-examination options currently available for recertification.
- The contact hours method of recertification, requiring 125 contact hours, will remain an option for recertification.
- The portfolio will replace the points method of recertification beginning in 2010 (until then, both options will be offered).
- The portfolio program will replace the existing Portfolio Program for reactivation and be the sole method to reactivate beginning in 2008.
The portfolio is not only a tool for recertifcation or reactivation; it has many uses. It promotes ongoing learning, encourages self-reflection and application of learning to practice, and provides flexible methods to maintain continuing competence. It can also be used by employers for performance reviews and can serve as a tool in your professional life.
You can download a PDF version of the portfolio online here. If you have any additional questions about this process, please feel free to contact CCI headquarters at 888-257-2667 or via e-mail at info@cc-institute.org.
Record-Breaking Year – 30,000 Plus Certified

The total number of certificants has hovered around the 30,000 mark before, but this year’s exam statistics for individuals who hold an active credential are record breaking.
