CCI Releases White Paper on Latest Think Tank
CCI’s new white paper, Continued Competence Leadership Forum: From Pieces to Policy, summarizes the results of our second Think Tank, held in September 2007. CCI convened a group of thought leaders and experts in healthcare and credentialing to explore the development of a framework for continued competence. The focus of the framework is grounded in our mission of providing extraordinary care and improving patient safety.
The white paper, written by Michelle Byrne, RN, PhD, CNOR, a member of the CCI Board of Directors, and Linda Waters, RN, PhD, of Prometric, CCI’s testing agency, provides detailed information on the scenarios discussed during the Think Tank; perspectives from consumers, participants, and physicians; and future coalition planning.
The complete version of the white paper, Continued Competency Leadership Forum: From Pieces to Policy will be available online at www.cc-institute.org on March 1, 2008. The upcoming issue of CCI News will also feature excerpts from the paper.

This month, we’re featuring the Professionalism module by Kathryn Schroeter, RN, PhD, CNOR, available for 1.4 continuing education contact hours. A summary of the module is below.
Professionalism in nursing requires a body of knowledge, service to others, advocacy, autonomy, self-regulation, a code of ethics, participation in professional societies, and commitment to life-long learning. Ethics include values, codes, and principles that govern decisions in behavioral relationships, nursing education, research, and practice. Ensuring professional practice standards involves being accountable to your employer, your patients, and to yourself for your actions and the implementation of a high ethical standard. Through translating knowledge into action, professional practice standards are met. The Professionalism in Nursing module explores the organizational culture, values, and relationships and the structures and processes required for developing and sustaining effective professional practices.
Each module sells for $50. Click here to purchase.
