Who should participate in the program?
The program is open to individuals that serve in a management role or are preparing for the opportunity to serve in a management role in the surgical setting including, but not limited to, Staff Nurse, OR Nurse Manager/Coordinator/Director, PACU Nurse, Pre-Op Nurse, Endoscopy Nurse or Technician, Ambulatory Nurse, Staff Development/OR Educator, Supervisor, Charge Nurse and OR Business Managers.
What general areas does the program cover?
CCI conducted a national survey of surgical managers to determine the program content. The evidence-based content will focus on six general areas:
1. Professionalism
2. Leadership
3. Communication and Relationship Management
4. Financial Management
5. Surgical Services Management
6. Human Resource Management
Why should I consider completing the certificate program?
The program fulfills a number of professional goals. Primarily, it enhances your knowledge and ability to function in a management role. It also provides an avenue for employers to reward employees that are dedicated to continued learning and professional development and the modules build your professional library.
I am a hospital administrator - why should I consider this program for my OR management team?
For employers, it serves as a tool for succession planning by internally advancing staff to assume more responsibility and provide better service. The program is a mentoring tool to grow and develop those individuals with an interest or potential for a management role.
Are there group discounts available?
Yes. A 10 percent discount is available for purchases of five or more programs. Programs must be ordered and paid for at the same time. Individual names must be provided before unique pass codes will be provided. Contact hours and individual certificates will be awarded for each individual that successfully completes the program. Full sets of the learning modules and the forms to obtain contact hours will also be provided for each program purchased.
Do I receive continuing education credits when I complete the program?
Yes, each module will offer approved contact hours to use toward recertification or re-licensure (based on state) for no extra cost.
How long do I have to complete each module?
The six modules are self-paced so you can create your own schedule. After you purchase the program, you have one year to complete the full program.
How will I know what areas I need to study for most?
Each candidate will complete an online pre-assessment exam and receive a detailed diagnostic outline on the modules/content areas where they need to review more.
When can I start?
The program is available now.
How do I know the program is valid?
CCI worked with a team of its volunteer leaders (also CNORs), staff, and testing experts to develop the program after analyzing the results of a large-scale survey of surgical services managers to determine the content. Six authors were identified to write the modules in their area of expertise.
Is the program only available online?
Yes. Everything is available online via the CCI Web site.
Is the online technology difficult to understand?
The online tool is easy to navigate and self-explanatory. You can always contact the CCI office for assistance at 888/257-2667 or e-mail info@cc-institute.org.
If I am a CNOR, CRNFA, or AORN member do I receive a discount?
The program is open to all health-care professionals interested in educational opportunities related to management of the surgical practice setting. Therefore, all participants will pay the same price of $199.
I am not a registered nurse. Can I still participate?
Yes. The program is open to all health-care professionals interested in educational opportunities related to management of the surgical practice setting.
EXAMINATION/TESTING
How many questions are on the tests?
Each test (pre and post) contains 90 items covering the six domains.
How will I know what areas I need to study for most?
Each candidate will complete an online pre-assessment exam and receive a detailed diagnostic outline on the modules/content areas where they need to review more.
Do I receive a numerical score on my pre or post exam?
No. You will receive a customized report after completing the pre-test with your strengths and weaknesses. Following the post-test, you receive a notice of successful completion.
Do I have to complete the exam once I start it or can I save my progress and complete the exam later?
If you close your Web browser before completing the test, your changes will be automatically saved. You will be asked when you revisit the test if you want to resume where you left off. If you submit your exam, however, you will no longer be able to access the test. If you plan to complete the exam at a later day, do not click submit, simply exit your browser.
How long do I have to complete the program?
From the date of purchase, you have one-year to complete all steps in the program and earn your certificate. However, you can develop your own schedule within that year to complete each module.
Is the online technology difficult to understand?

Is the certificate of completion (“Certificate of Mastery”) transferable?
No. The Certificate of Mastery is only awarded to the individual that is on record as having purchased the program. The unique pass codes for the program are linked to that person and the certificate will only be awarded to them.
Are the contact hours transferable?
No. The contact hours are only awarded to the individual who purchased the program and completed the certificate post-test. They are not transferable.
What if my institution buys several programs to distribute to staff?
The institution will need to provide the names and addresses of each person prior to receiving their unique pass codes.
Does the Certificate of Mastery expire?
No. The Certificate of Mastery indicates that you successfully completed the program. It does not expire nor does it have maintenance requirements.
