Learn about Recertification Methods

The CNOR is conferred for a period of five years, and all eligible candidates must recertify by July 1^st of the year  you are due to recertify using one of the four available methods:

1. Contact Hours - earn 125 contact hours over five years
2. Points - accrue 300 points over five years
3. Exam – retake the CNOR exam
4. Portfolio – select four out of 12 activities to complete this evidence based method

Or you may need an Extension - if you do not currently meet the requirements for recertification you may file for Inactive Status.

All four methods require you to commit time to further your knowledge and to stay current with the latest perioperative practice standards.  Please note, each method will take you approximately the same amount of time to complete.  Select your method and plan accordingly to make sure you have met all requirements prior to submitting your application.
