A Commitment to the Next Generation

As an institute, CCI is personally committed to healthcare competency assessment, which values clinical competencies and relationships with patients and peers within the healthcare environment. We are dedicated to fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals through our work with faculty and staff educators.

Faculty

Over the last several years, CCI research committees, along with headquarters staff and key research experts, have begun to answer the question of what operating room nurses value about CNOR and CRNFA certification. The results of our research can be found in published works, manuscripts currently in production, and key messages that are scientifically supported by this research. We have also provided a copy of the survey tool we used to conduct this research.

As a sponsor of the AORN Faculty Think Tank, CCI has demonstrated its commitment to integrating surgical content into baccalaureate nursing education. View a report on the AORN Think Tank.

CCI publications are widely used in a variety of educational settings. To arrange bulk purchases or discounts of study guides and Competency Assessment Modules for use in your class syllabus, please contact CCI at info@cc-institute.org.

Staff Development Educators

Nurses responsible for staff development are often charged with significant responsibilities in addition to ongoing staff and patient care responsibilities. CCI is dedicated to providing relevant easy-to-use tools to help you develop and assess your staff's nursing competency in a variety of clinical settings.

Our Competency Assessment Module series is designed specifically for staff development professionals to assess the competency of nurses, surgical technologists, and others in the surgical setting. The series also includes a complete checklist of behaviors for evaluating professionals as they perform a variety of skills and competencies. Checklists can be copied and included in personnel files. Find out about bulk sale discounts and intranet licenses for Competency Assessment Modules.

CCI has also developed an online exam that can be used in assessing the knowledge and skills of nurses entering the surgical setting. Used to prepare for the CNOR certification exam, the E-Practice Test is derived from a comprehensive, research-based blueprint covering the knowledge and skills necessary to work in pre-, intra-, and post-operative areas. To adapt this for use in new-employee assessment, contact Mary O’Neale at moneale@cc-institute.org. View some sample questions.
